Chapter 1790
Karina pulled out a tissue and handed it to the mother. "Please, don't thank me so much. It's a doctor's duty to save lives. I'm just doing my job."
The mother, overwhelmed with gratitude, left the room, and Karina stretched her stiff muscles, thinking that the ordeal was finally over.
The very next day, the mother returned with a large banner that read, "Making a Difference with Medicine."
The hospital buzzed with excitement.
Karina's face turned bright red, more embarrassed than if she had been boiled alive. She had just managed to see the family off when, at lunch in the hospital cafeteria, the teasing began.
"Dr. Norman, heard you got a banner this morning. Impressive! First day here, and you're already making waves!"noveldrama
"They say you handled a surgery all by yourself. Is that true?"
Karina could only helplessly explain, "It wasn't all by myself. I had guidance."
When they pressed her for details on who guided her, she remained silent, unwilling to divulge any further information.
After several failed attempts, the curiosity died down, and Karina let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Although she knew their intentions were good, sometimes this kind of attention, even if it was well-meaning, was harder to handle than any negativity.
From that day on, Karina became well-known in the hospital.
The benefit of this newfound fame was that the number of patients seeking her out skyrocketed.
No longer idle, Karina's days became filled with back-to-back appointments. She barely had time to eat, shower, and crash into bed each night.
Of course, there were difficult patients to handle, but nothing too problematic.
The atmosphere in this hospital was far better than the one in Birkham. If a patient acted out of line here, the staff would step in to handle it.
Karina had been at the hospital for nearly a week now, and the experience had been overwhelmingly positive.
One evening, after her work had finally calmed down, she noticed the empty windowsill in her office. She suddenly remembered that she had yet to buy flowers.
She slapped her forehead. She had been so busy she had completely forgotten!
After work, she made a stop at a nearby flower shop, intending to pick out a plant for the windowsill. She also planned to order a bouquet to send to Wilfred as a token of thanks. Choosing the right plant was easy, but figuring out what flowers to send to Wilfred was a different matter.
The shopkeeper, a woman who had recently gotten married, looked to be about the same age as Karina. She had a gentle demeanor, and noticing Karina's hesitation, she asked, Are you having trouble choosing?"
Karina awkwardly nodded.

The woman smiled and suggested, "Why don't you tell me about the person you're sending flowers to? I can help you pick something."
Karina thought for a moment. "He's
someone who seems cold on the
outside, but deep down, he's soft-hearted. He feels for others, can be sharp-tongued at times, but is very responsible."

As she spoke, a clear image of Wilfred slowly formed in her mind. She might not even realize it, but as she described him, a sweet smile unconsciously spread across her face one that resembled the tender expression of a lovesick girl.
The shopkeeper caught the subtle shift in her expression and smiled knowingly.
After a brief pause, the shopkeeper said, "Hmm, someone with that kind of personality would be tricky to pick for. But I think I've got just the thing. How about this iris?" She handed Karina a bouquet of blue irises, interspersed with a few white ones. The combination of blue and white looked dreamy and ethereal.
Karina fell in love with them immediately. "This is perfect! Can you deliver it to another city?"
The shopkeeper nodded. "Of course! We're part of a chain, so we can send it anywhere. Just leave your contact info and address, and we'll have it delivered tomorrow." Karina paid and, satisfied, picked out a lily of the valley for herself before heading out the door.
What do you think?
