Master of his heart (Brielle and Max)

Chapter 1505

The driver's family surrounded her, pleading desperately, bowing so low their foreheads touched the ground. They begged her to go easy on the driver, to ask for less compensation.noveldrama

Then, someone in the crowd recognized her as the streamer Emma, and chaos erupted in the hospital. Emma was jostled and shoved, caught in a whirlwind of attention as hundreds of phones pointed at her, recording every moment without mercy. "It's Emma the streamer! Her mom was in a car accident and died," someone exclaimed.

"It really is her! She's even more stunning in person," another voice chimed in.

"Her mom just passed away-could you all have some decency and stop filming?" someone else pleaded.

As the crowd realized Emma was the famous streamer, they quickly started a live stream, drawing in viewers by the thousands. The comments were unforgiving. Some accused her of scamming, saying she was just marrying rich now that she was famous, claiming she deserved everything happening to her. Others questioned if she was faking it-how could her mother have died so suddenly?

Through it all, the driver's family continued kneeling, their cries full of tears and desperation. Emma, on the receiving end of this tragedy, couldn't find her voice. Her throat felt raw, and everything around her blurred in and out of focus.

Suddenly, she spotted Dustin weaving through the throng, shrugging off his jacket to shield her, guiding her away from the chaos. Emma stayed silent, numb from the pain that consumed her, wishing she could just escape it all. Dustin's appearance didn't go unnoticed on the live stream. Viewers were initially captivated by his looks before recognizing him.

"That's Dustin, the CEO of Infinity Brilliance. He seems pretty tight with Emma, doesn't he?"

"More than tight-could he be Emma's mysterious fiancé?"

"No way! Do you have any idea what Infinity Brilliance means? It's top-tier elite. Emma's just a small-time streamer; she can't be that lucky."

Dustin helped Emma into the car, while bodyguards held back the crowd. Even in the car, Emma remained silent, her gaze fixed straight ahead, eyes unfocused. Dustin instructed the driver to move, cradling Emma gently against him. Emma's body was rigid, not leaning into him, just sitting quietly.

"Emma?" Dustin called softly.

But she still didn't respond, her face pale as she stared blankly ahead.

When they reached home, the nanny opened the door, holding a tearful Heather, whose cries had turned hoarse from a fever.

"Ms. Emma, Heather seems to have a fever. I was about to take her to the hospital," the nanny explained.

Emma's eyes widened, snapping her back to reality. She quickly gathered Heather in her arms. The child seemed so innocent, her face wet with tears. Emma was ready to rush out.

Dustin gently took Heather from her arms. "You stay here and rest. I'll take her to the hospital right away."

Emma stood there, feeling like her life was spiraling out of control. She watched Dustin leave with her daughter, each of Heather's cries tearing at her heart.

As she came to her senses, she ran after them. "Where are you taking my child?" she called out.

Dustin hesitated but knew he couldn't delay-Heather's fever was dangerous, and her incessant crying was alarming. He quickly got into the car, urgency in his movements.

Emma was about to chase after them when the nanny stopped her. "Ms. Emma, Jaime has been crying non-stop too. We've tried everything, but nothing works. He's not hungry or sick, just crying."

Emma's steps faltered, her eyes still on the disappearing car. She then turned back inside, picking up Jaime. Instantly, he settled down, his cries ceasing in her arms.

The nannies, exhausted and sweaty

from their efforts, sighed in relief as Jaime had finally quieted. Emma, humming a tune she didn't quite recognize, felt like she was on autopilot.

Jaime fell asleep in her arms, and in the silence, Emma was

overwhelmed by exhaustion and fear. Was this the price she paid for falling for Dustin? Was this some kind of divine punishment, for being too greedy?

But why did the punishment fall on her mother instead of her? Her mother had endured a lifetime of hardship, only now starting to enjoy better days. How could this be happening? Tears streamed down Emma's face, each drop making it harder to breathe.
