The Cherished Wife

Chapter 880

Sean let out a chuckle. "There's no need to be so afraid of me, Mrs. Langford. After all, you used to call me Sean, too. Don't worry. If anyone gives you trouble in the future, just come to me."

Layla shrank back in fear, and Jordan frowned. "Mr. Smith, if there's nothing else, I'll take Layla and leave now."

"Oh, of course. You can go," Sean replied casually, though his eyes lingered on Layla. Layla immediately tensed up, sensing his gaze.

With a playful smile, Sean glanced from Layla's face to her stomach, then back to her face. "Mrs. Langford, you don't seem to be in good health. How about a free check-up at my hospital?"

"No need!" Layla quickly refused.

Her hasty refusal only made her behavior seem more suspicious. Jordan also found Layla's reaction odd, but considering the injuries she had sustained over the past few days, he assumed she was simply afraid of Sean.

"It's fine, Mr. Smith. I'll take care of my wife's injuries myself."

"Alright then... Take care," Sean said. He smiled as he watched them leave, his gaze never leaving Layla.

Layla felt a chill run down her spine as if Sean's stare was piercing through her. It was just as unnerving as the physical pain she had endured in recent days.

She gripped Jordan's hand tightly. "Jordan, let's go, quickly!"

Sean's smile faded as he turned to see Andrew still standing nearby. "Why are you still watching me?" he asked with a grin.

"Mr. Smith, do you think letting this woman go will cause any future problems?" Andrew recalled that this woman was here four years ago, and it was apparent that the lesson she received then was not enough.

"Her? She's not capable of stirring up too much trouble. For now, she won't be doing anything, but keep an eye on her. There's something interesting in her belly, after all."

Although Jordan claimed he would not divorce Layla, Sean fancied himself a kind person. Who knew? He might just help Jordan deal with her one day if he felt charitable.

Peter, having gotten the information he needed from Layla, immediately contacted Charles. "She's probably in Carvonia."

"Alright. I'll take care of it. Just wait."

Charles hung up the phone and

turned to see Noelle slumped on the couch. She had been watching TV but had fallen asleep. Charles shook his head with a small smile and gently patted her cheek. "Nelly?"

"Hmm?"

Noelle blinked her eyes open, still half-asleep. "What is it?"

"If you're tired, go upstairs to sleep," he said, smiling. "Why are you so sleepy lately?"

"I don't know. Maybe it's because I've been too busy," Noelle replied, stretching her arms.

"It's a rare day off, and I wanted to go out and do something." She sighed. "But there's so much work."

Noelle then glanced at the pile of

She looked up suspiciously at Charles. "Did you do this?"

Charles smirked. "You had already completed most of it. I just wrapped it up for you. Your ideas are pretty good."noveldrama

"Really?" Noelle beamed with pride at his praise. "You really think they're good?"

"Yeah." Charles nodded, patting her shoulder. "Still sleepy?"

"No, I'm awake now!" After sleeping for a while, she no longer felt like napping, especially since it was still the afternoon. If she slept any more, she would have trouble falling asleep at night.

She got up and started tidying the papers. "Is Mr. Click coming soon?" she asked.
