The Cherished Wife

Chapter 888

Sean gave Peter a sympathetic look and then clucked his tongue twice, as if surveying Peter's face. This was the face of a cuckolded man. Peter narrowed his eyes. "Sean, are you itching for a beating?"

Sean immediately stood up straight and distanced himself just to be safe. "Heh, it's not me who wronged you, so why give me that look? But this kid..." Sean examined the situation, feeling something was off.

Peter grew impatient. "Are you that free?"

"Of course not! I've got plenty of work to do. Well, good luck to you." Sean patted Peter's shoulder in sympathy. Then, with a shake of his head and a sigh, he walked away.

If Tania had really gotten married and the child was not Peter's, then Peter's chances of winning her back were slim to none. Though Peter was the type of person who always got what he wanted, Tania was not just anyone she was Charles' cousin.

That alone made things complicated. Peter could not just do as he pleased with her. If he tried to break up her marriage, it was not guaranteed Tania would come back to him.

Watching Sean leave, Peter felt an overwhelming urge to just knock him out.

Meanwhile, Noelle accompanied Tania inside the ward. Henry had been chatting with Nancy when they heard footsteps, and they assumed Sean had returned.

Without turning around, Henry said, "Sean, there's not much left to do here. Don't worry, everything is... Tania?"

Henry's hand, which held a fruit knife, trembled slightly. He almost cut himself. Noelle quickly stepped forward, taking the knife from him with a smile. "Uncle Henry, Aunt Nancy, look who's here!"

"Tania, is it really you?" Henry rose to his feet, overwhelmed with emotion. He then turned to Nancy. "Nancy, look, Tania's back! Our Tania has really come back."

"Tania, my Tania!" Nancy, equally emotional, tried to sit up. With tears streaming down her face, Tania rushed forward. "Mom, Dad, I've been such a bad daughter. I can't believe it took me so long to come back."

Tania knelt on the ground, her voice choked with emotion. "It's all my fault. I was selfish..."

"Child, don't kneel on the floor!" Henry helped her up, tears already flowing down his aged cheeks. It had been more than three years since their daughter left in a battered and broken state.

Now, after all those days and nights of waiting and hoping, she had finally returned.noveldrama

"Dad, I'm so sorry!" Tania cried as she threw herself into Henry's arms. "I'm an ungrateful daughter."

"Silly girl, it's enough that you're

back. That's all that matters." Henry gently patted her shoulder before pulling away and looking at Noelle.

"Thank you, Noelle. You've done us a great kindness."

"Uncle Henry, don't mention it," Noelle replied with a smile, then brought over a chair. "Everyone, let's all sit down. No need to keep standing." She then walked to the door and called, "Peter!"

Peter's expression was complicated as he looked at her.

Noelle smiled softly. "Peter, if you trust me, hand Brandon over to me. Tania's still catching up with Uncle Henry and Aunt Nancy. If you show up now, it'll upset her, and that definitely affect Aunt Nancy's mood too."

Peter pressed his lips together. The woman he had not seen in over three years was just inside. She was so close yet felt so far away.

"Peter, do you really believe that Tania got married?" Noelle asked.

Peter furrowed his brows together. "What are you getting at?"

"Peter, there's time. Tania will be in Brookville for a while. Whether she's married, who she's married to, and whose child Brandon is—I'm sure you'll find out the answers to all these questions.

"Right now, though, what you need to do is give her some space. Let her spend time with Uncle Henry and Aunt Nancy first."
