Chapter 26
Chapter 26:.
Matthew shot him a look, “Stay out of my personal business.”
Abbott smiled ingratiatingly, “I did it because I was very curious. Miss White had been by your side for a long time and I think Miss White is better suited for you.”
“Baron Abbott.” Matthew spoke his name slowly, exuding an ineffably imposing aura. Abbott felt the chill and shivered. Just as he was about to explain, his gaze met Matthew’s spuriously smiling eyes. “Since you’re so interested in my personal affairs, how about we sit down and talk about this?” asked Matthew.
Abbott broke into a cold sweat down his back and laughed awkwardly, “No need.”
Just then, the elevator arrived at the destination floor. Abbott hurriedly stepped back to distance himself from Matthew.
Matthew shot him a look and exited the elevator.
Helen seemed to know that Matthew would be returning to the office at that moment and was waiting for him at the door with a document in her hand. Seeing Matthew exit the elevator, she hurried over, “Mr. Nelson, this document requires your signature.”
He didn’t mention what had happened yesterday.
Being unreasonably annoying would only upset him; whereas being sensible and obedient would help her win his favor.
Matthew took the document, signed it in cursive handwriting, and handed it to her saying, “Let’s have dinner together.” Was this compensation for her?
Helen smiled, “Okay.”
“You can choose any restaurant you want.” After all, he was responsible for this woman.
Helen followed him as he briefed her on the subsequent schedule.
When they reached the office door, Helen closed the diary file and asked, “What would you like to drink?”
“A cup of coffee, please.” He then walked into his office.
Helen walked over to the tea room to prepare the coffee. When she saw the newly promoted head of the human resources department leading Dolores into the tea room, she became a little nervous. Why is Dolores Flores here? she thought to herself.
Helen put down the coffee pot, walked out of the tea room, blocked the manager’s path, and stared at Dolores, “Why are you here?”
There was defensiveness and surprise in her eyes. It looked like she hadn’t expected Dolores to show up at the company.
Dolores smiled, “I’m a translator for the company.”
Helen clenched her fists, fixing her eyes on Dolores. So did Dolores seduce Matthew after she left that day?
If not, how could she have been recruited by the company?
Dolores leaned close and whispered in his ear, “My husband wants to see me at all times, so he asked me to work at the company. This way, he will always be able to see me.”
“Don’t brag about yourself!” Helen glared at her, “Who do you think you are, huh? Who would be infatuated with you? Go look at your reflection in the mirror.”
Although she was excessively angry, her remaining reasons reminded her that she should not let go of Dolores’ relationship with Matthew, as everyone in the company knew that she, Helen White, was the woman Matthew would marry in the future.
Seeing that Helen was anxious, Dolores scoffed.
They were destined to be enemies from the moment Helen stimulated Jessica and caused her to go into psychosis.
Helen soon snapped back to reality. Since they were on her turf, wasn’t it a cinch for her to make trouble for Dolores?
Without realizing it, Helen glanced down at Dolores’ belly and thought, ‘I will not allow you to give birth to this baby.
“Miss White, do you know Miss Flores?” the manager of the human resources department had discovered that they seemed to have some grudge between them, but he didn’t want to say anything rashly; instead, he pretended he hadn’t noticed anything.
There was no fool here. The staff who worked in companies like the WY Group were all wise people.
Helen curved her lips into a smile she had at the usual times and replied softly, “We’ve already met. Now that she’s the company’s new translator, leave her to me. I’ll take care of her.” ”
Great.” The manager smiled.
After the manager left, Helen deliberately ignored Dolores and returned to the tea room to prepare the coffee.
Dolores frowned, thinking, “Why is this woman so childish, does Helen think I’m going to be bothered by such little tricks?”
“Miss White, if you’re busy, I’ll go to my husband’s office and ask him…”
“Shut up!” Helen had barely managed to control her mood, but it wasn’t long before she was irritated by the word ‘husband’ again.
Why wasn’t this woman going to hell?
Dolores smiled, “What happened that night. Miss White, you were the one who offended me first!”.
She… Did she know?
How many details did she know?
No… No way… She wouldn’t have found out. That middle-aged woman, the only one who knew the truth, was dead. How could she know?
Helen stifled her anxiety and said calmly, “I’m sorry, Miss Flores, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Miss White, hadn’t you been in my apartment complex?” asked Dolores fixing her gaze on Helen’s face.
Helen was stunned for a moment. It turned out that she was talking about this matter.
She hadn’t expected Dolores to know so soon.
But it was all right as long as she hadn’t discovered this affair.
Even if this was the case, she would not admit it. Helen pretended to be confused, “My apartment complex? Is that your address, Ms. Flores?”
Dolores grimaced and decided not to pursue this issue any further, as they were both clear on the truth. She asked, “Where is my workstation?”
Helen pointed to the far corner of the office, “It’s over there.”
Dolores tried to anger her, “Even if you arrange for me to work in a corner, we still work in the same room.”
After finishing the words, she walked towards her workstation.
There were a lot of documents about WY Group’s new project in Country A, but the company had not found a translator before, so the documents were piling up.
Helen gave him all the documents and left him no time to rest, asking him to finish the translation of all these documents in two days.
When it was time to leave work, Dolores was still concentrating on the translation of these documents.
When Matthew came out of his office, Helen had changed from the suit she wore during work time to a long white dress. With her maroon hair and delicate makeup, she looked lovely and elegant.
She walked over and put her arm around his, “I remember you like the dishes at the Sanskrit Sky restaurant, so I’ve booked a table there.” Matthew replied with a nasal sound in a bland manner, showing little interest in her.
When he inadvertently glanced at Dolores, who was sitting in the corner, he raised his eyebrows slightly.
Helen hastened to explain, “There was only one job opening, so I had to ask her to sit there.” Then she added, “I did it partly because of my ulterior motive.”
Even if she didn’t point it out, Matthew would be able to figure it out.
So it was a better choice for her to take the initiative to admit it.
She didn’t like Dolores.
She lowered her head, asking, “I’m really mean, aren’t I?”
Since Helen was so direct, what else could Matthew say?
“Come on.” He was still quiet, showing no change of expression on his face.
Even he himself could not understand his feelings for Dolores, let alone Abbott. He disliked and at the same time sympathized with her, plus he had an urge to know more about her, about the reasons behind her laughing and crying. What secrets did she have behind her back?
She was such an ambivalent woman that it piqued his interest.
Seeing that Matthew didn’t get angry, nor did he stand out to Dolores, Helen felt better and concluded that Matthew didn’t care much for Dolores.
Perhaps he was good to Dolores, just for the sake of his mother who had died.
After all, his marriage to Dolores was arranged by his mother.
Helen felt better at the thought of this.
Dolores saw Helen and Matthew leave her arm, but acted as if she hadn’t heard.
She didn’t raise her head until the elevator doors closed. ‘They were intimate lovers.’ thought Dolores to herself.
She couldn’t quite understand the reasons why Matthew had a crush on Helen, a woman who seemed simple and innocent but was actually intriguing.
However, this had nothing to do with her.
Dolores lowered her head and laughed bitterly.
She left work when it was almost midnight and returned home.
Since it was late at night, there were few people in the entire office building; even the number of cars on the street was much smaller than during the day. Compared to the hustle and bustle of the day, it seemed quieter.
Dolores waited for the cab at the side of the road. After a while, a cab drove towards her from not far away.
Dolores waved her hand.noveldrama
The cab stopped. Dolores opened the door of the back seats and told the driver the destination: “No. 138, Tongfu Street”.
The driver started the car.
Looking at the scenery rushing by through the window with half-closed eyes, Dolores felt a little drowsy. Then she shook her head to cheer herself up.
After a while, she realized that there was something wrong with the address the car was carrying, “Excuse me, my destination is 138 Tongfu Street.”
The driver turned his head to look at her and smiled, “I drive a cab all year round and I know which routes are shortcuts.”
Dolores nodded. After all, she was not familiar with that neighborhood.
About ten minutes later, the car still hadn’t reached its destination. If the driver had driven the normal route, they would have arrived. He chose a shortcut and they still hadn’t arrived. Dolores sensed that something was wrong…..
